O filme Edna é um longa-metragem documentário sobre Edna Rodrigues de Souza, uma mulher que vive à beira da rodovia Transbrasiliana, na Amazônia brasileira, e é testemunha de uma terra em ruínas construída sobre massacres.
Criada apenas pela mãe, ela vivencia em seu corpo e no de seus descendentes as marcas de uma guerra que, segundo ela, nunca acabou.
Por meio de seus relatos e escritos, o filme constrói uma narrativa híbrida que se move entre a realidade e o imaginário. Tudo é tecido a partir da memória de Edna e seu diário intitulado "História da Minha Vida". Uma vida de guerrilhas, desaparecimentos e desmatamentos, mas também a força das mulheres, rios e matas que insistem em sobreviver. Uma poeta transformada em olhos que apesar de verem não podem falar. Ela sonha sair dali para um lugar que não sabe aonde.
Living on the edge of Transbrasiliana highway in the Brazilian Amazon, Edna is a witness of a land in ruins built upon massacres.
Raised only by her mother, she experiences in her body and of her descendants, the marks of a "war that never ends" - a war for land.
Through her reports and writings, the movie builds a hybrid narrative that moves between reality and imaginary. Everything's woven from Edna's memory and her diary entitled "Story of My Life". A life of guerillas, disappearances and deforestations, but also women's strength, rivers and woods that insist on surviving. A poet transformed in eyes that can see but cannot talk. She dreams of leaving to a place that we don't know where.

EDNA, filme do cineasta Eryk Rocha, seu nono longa metragem, teve sua estreia mundial no prestigiado festival Visions du Réel na Suíça, na competição internacional Burning Lights, em Abril de 2021.No Brasil, o filme estreou no maior festival de documentários da América Latina É Tudo Verdade na Competição Brasileira de Longas.
Desde a sua estreia, EDNA, já foi selecionado em mais de 30 festivais nacionais e internacionais, com destaque para Telluride Film Festival e DOCNY, nos EUA, o Festival Porto/Post Doc em Portugal, DMZ International Documentary Film Festival da Coreia do Sul, RIDM Montreal e Doxa Vancouver no Canadá, L’Alternativa - 28º Festival de Cinema Independente e FICX Gijón na Espanha. Dentro da América Latina o filme foi exibido no México, no Festival Ambulante, no Uruguai no Docmontevideo e Festival Cinematográfico Internacional do Uruguai e na Colômbia no MIDBO Bogotá.
Para além das prestigiadas seleções o filme vem sendo premiado e distinguido com diversos prêmios por todo o mundo, como no Chile, onde recebeu o Prémio de Melhor Direção no festival FICVIÑA, na França com Melhor Documentário no Festival Biarritz Amérique Latine, na Itália, Menção Honrosa no festival de Pesaro, no México, Melhor Fotografia no festival FICG Guadalajara, no Brasil, com Melhor Longa Metragem nos Festivais Panorama Coisa de Cinema e Cine Alter do Chão. Também no Brasil, na Mostra Ecofalante, o filme recebeu a Menção Honrosa do Júri e mais recentemente na sua estreia Argentina no Festival de Cinema Político de Buenos Aires, foi premiado com o Prêmio Especial do Júri.
O filme é uma produção da Aruac Filmes com o apoio de Cinebrasil TV e Rumos Itaú Cultural.
EDNA, a film by filmmaker Eryk Rocha, his ninth feature film, had its world premiere at the prestigious Visions du Réel festival in Switzerland, in the Burning Lights international competition, in April 2021. In Brazil, the film premiered at the largest documentary festival in America Latina It's All True in the Brazilian Feature Film Competition.
Since its debut, EDNA, has been selected in more than 30 national and international festivals, with emphasis on Telluride Film Festival and DOCNY, in the USA, the Porto/Post Doc Festival in Portugal, DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in South Korea, RIDM Montreal and Doxa Vancouver in Canada, L'Alternativa - 28th Independent Film Festival and FICX Gijón in Spain. Within Latin America, the film was shown in Mexico, at Festival Ambulante, in Uruguay at Docmontevideo and the Uruguay International Cinematographic Festival and in Colombia at MIDBO Bogotá.
In addition to the prestigious selections, the film has been awarded and distinguished with several prizes around the world, such as in Chile, where it received the Best Director Award at the FICVIÑA festival, in France with Best Documentary at the Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival, in Italy, Mention Honored at the Pesaro festival, in Mexico, Best Photography at the FICG Guadalajara festival, in Brazil, with Best Feature Film at the Panorama Coisa de Cinema and Cine Alter do Chão festivals. Also in Brazil, at the Ecospeaker Exhibition, the film received the Jury's Honorable Mention and more recently, at its Argentine premiere at the Buenos Aires Political Film Festival, it was awarded the Special Jury Prize.
The film is produced by Aruac Filmes with the support of Cinebrasil TV and Rumos Itaú Cultural.
